Sgriob-ruadh Farm has grown from a few dilapidated sheds and a dream into our family's cherished home and an ever-evolving business.
We've been dairy farming for 50+ years and making cheese for over four decades — there's more to come, too.
Powered by renewable energy and a 'do it ourselves' attitude, we've got lots to share, and there's no better place to do it than the beautiful Isle of Mull in Scotland's Inner Hebrides.

Three generations, and counting.
The Reade family started farming in Somerset in 1963. The dream was to live in Scotland and produce milk for Tobermory and the surrounding islands. Cheesemaking goes hand in hand with selling liquid milk to be manageable and sustainable.
A beautiful dilapidated ruin was found on Mull. The family worked together to create the business from from the ground up.
This typifies the kind of resourceful approach we pride ourselves on — an approach that has been very necessary for success when living on Mull, where access to technicians, engineers and other services can be a little patchy.
Three generations of the Reade family are now actively involved in Sgriob-ruadh farm and the various businesses that have sprung from it, and it makes us so proud to continue into the future as a collection of family-run businesses, producing great food and drink that people enjoy across the world.
FAMILY
Sgriob-ruadh farm is now owned and run by Garth, Brendan and Shelagh, watched over by Chris. Since arriving in these parts in 1979, the clan has expanded and put down further roots. Our family live and work across the island, from the local doctor's surgery, to the beach at Calgary to the biscuit company established by Joe — Island Bakery.
It takes a hard-working team effort to make everything happen as it should on Sgriob-ruadh Farm, and we don't rest on our laurels either — we're always looking for ways to improve what we do, make better food & drink, and do it more sustainably.
